“The pioneering venture debt and venture capital partner for fintech and fintech-enabling startups in Egypt.”
Camel Ventures is a Cairo-based venture capital and venture debt firm founded by Shehab Marzban, Mona El Sayed, and Mahmoud El Zohairy. The firm launched in April 2023 with its first vehicle, Camel Ventures for Investment I (CVI), an EGP 500 million+ ($16 million) fund regulated by the Egyptian Financial Regulatory Authority.
What sets Camel Ventures apart from most African VCs is the venture debt component. The fund provides equity investments for early-stage startups and venture debt in local currency for later-stage companies, which gives founders flexibility around dilution and financing structure. The fund is backed by banks, financial institutions, and family offices from Egypt and the GCC, with Al Ahly Capital Holding and dfin Holding as strategic partners. The portfolio spans 10+ companies across fintech and fintech-adjacent sectors including logistics, healthcare, education, and HR tech.
