Foundation Ventures is a Cairo-based VC firm founded in 2018 by Mazen Nadim, Omar Barakat, and Ziyad Hamdy, all former investment bankers turned angel investors. The firm currently operates two funds: Fund I (which backed 10+ companies including NowPay, Flextock, Rabbit Mart, and Trella) and Fund II (FVFII), a $25 million vehicle that hit first close in early 2025 with backing from the Egyptian American Enterprise Fund (EAEF), MSMEDA, and Onsi Sawiris.
The founding team brings investment banking experience from EFG-Hermes and private equity from BPE Partners, and they position themselves as the first backer giving founders "the largest enterprise access across the country." The firm is sector-agnostic but has gravitated toward logistics, fintech, edtech, and proptech, and emphasises Egypt's competitive advantages, particularly its strong tech talent pool and cost-efficient market conditions.
