“Accelerating climate tech and sustainable agriculture startups at the intersection of technology and planetary resilience across Africa.”
Katapult Africa is the Africa-focused arm of Katapult, a Norwegian impact investment platform founded in 2015 by Tharald Nustad that has invested in 200+ portfolio companies across 50+ countries through its family of funds and accelerators (including Katapult Ocean, Katapult Impact Platform, and Katapult Foundation). The Africa programme specifically targets early-stage climate tech, agritech, and foodtech startups across the continent, investing $150K to $500K per company through a 90-day digital accelerator.
The programme has invested in 16+ African companies to date, with cohorts drawn from across the continent. A representative cohort included GrowAgric (Kenya, agritech), Aquarech (Kenya, aquaculture), Legendary Foods (Ghana, food tech), Gricd (Nigeria, cold storage), Vetsark (Nigeria, agri-tech), Afrikamart (Senegal, B2B marketplace), Sand to Green (Morocco, agri-tech), and Elucid (Madagascar, supply chain). The accelerator is backed by partners including Disrupt Africa, the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, Norrsken, Smart Africa, and The Risa Fund, and uses the Climate Impact Compass (developed with Norrsken and Risa) as its impact measurement framework. The programme provides workshops, mentor sessions, pitch training, investor presentations, and access to Katapult's global alumni network.
