This is a grant program, not a fund. The Foundation does not publish a grantee list on its grants page, so no portfolio splits are computed. Sector tags reflect the stated priority areas (censorship resistance, open-source infrastructure, tooling, community offerings).
The Solana Foundation is a non-profit in Zug, Switzerland, "dedicated to the decentralization, adoption, and security of the Solana ecosystem." Its grants program is the largest single source of non-dilutive money on Solana: the Foundation states that it has funded more than 500 projects with more than $100M across six continents. In March 2026 the Foundation's chief product officer, Vibhu Norby, put the average public-good grant at roughly $40,000 and said non-equity grant distribution across the Foundation and its affiliates "totals tens of millions annually."
There are three instruments. Standard grants are milestone-based and are for public goods, defined on the page as work that makes "a significant open-source contribution to the Solana ecosystem" or has "a meaningful free community offering." Convertible grants, introduced in April 2023, are for projects with commercial components: the grant converts to an investment "only if a project reaches certain milestones, such as raising a priced round or completing certain growth objectives," and closed-source products are eligible. RFPs are Foundation-identified priorities published in an Airtable board, with defined scope.
The Foundation is candid about its funnel. The grants page points early-stage builders to Superteam for quick $10K microgrants, and to Colosseum for hackathons with pre-seed funding for accelerator winners. Founders who arrive with a Superteam or Colosseum record are arriving through the Foundation's own preferred channels.
